Transhumance, the theme that illustrates Chocalhos, is fundamentally based on the paths that the herds travelled during the months of the year between the summer in the Estrela Mountain and the journey to the fields of Idanha-a-Nova at the beginning of each autumn, to return to Estrela when spring was announced.
